WONDERFUL HEALTH AND WELLNESS CENTER

Pursuing healthier, happier lives

In 2015, we introduced Wonderful Health & Wellness to address the health needs of our 4,000 San Joaquin Valley employees and their families.

The program was developed to combat the lack of focus on general wellness and basic health care needs, punctuated by serious epidemics of diabetes and obesity that are not only impacting all of America, but are ravaging the Central Valley and, more specifically, our employees and their loved ones. When we launched our program in 2015, two in three adults in Kern County were overweight or obese, and four in ten children were overweight or obese. Among our employees, rates were even higher: 86% of our employees were obese or overweight. Furthermore, 11% of our employees were diabetic, 49% were prediabetic, and 90% would have pre- or full diabetes by their 50s.

The Wonderful Wellness Centers in our Delano and Lost Hills facilities are the centerpiece of our program and help our Central Valley employees meet their health care needs. At these on-site clinics, we provide free medical care for employees and their dependents.

Both of our Wonderful Wellness Centers are staffed with full-time bilingual doctors, nurses, and health coaches. They provide a warm and welcoming environment, including special waiting rooms for children, healthy snacks, and check-your-health stations.

WELLNESS IN THE WORKPLACE AND COMMUNITY

A holistic approach

Wonderful Wellness is a wraparound program, meaning its benefits extend beyond the Wellness Centers and into the workplace and the community. Wonderful Health & Wellness isn't just about providing our employees and their families with necessary medical care. It's also about integrating a culture of wellness into the workplace throughout the day. At every break, our employees go on walks or do Zumba, and we provide free healthy snacks, including fruits, nuts, and vegetables. We also have fully equipped gyms on-site for all employees to use.

Many of our employees live far away from work, making it impractical for their families to use the Wellness Centers. To ensure that these spouses and children have access to high-quality medical care, we launched a mobile clinic to serve residential and remote areas. In addition, we offer exercise activities, fitness challenges, health education programs and cooking classes in local communities. Through Wonderful Wellness, we are deeply committed to inspiring and supporting our employees in adopting healthy habits and a lifestyle of wellness for themselves and their families, while striving to change the paradigm of health care in California's Central Valley.
