JUSTIN VINEYARDS & WINERY CELEBRATES GIVING TUESDAY BY AWARDING $50,000 TO NORTH COUNTY CLASSROOMS

42 Teachers Receive Funding for Classroom Supplies and Field Trips

Paso Robles, Calif. | Nov 27, 2018

Paso Robles, Calif. (Nov. 27, 2018) – JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery is celebrating Giving Tuesday, a national day of giving, by announcing the award of $50,000 to 42 teachers in the North San Luis Obispo County area through the JUSTIN School Grants program. These funds will be used to purchase supplies including science kits, digital drawing tablets and new yearbook cameras, as well as support field trips to local sites such as Hearst Castle and the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden. In total, JUSTIN School Grants will benefit 3,100 students across 19 schools.

The JUSTIN School Grants program provides $50,000 to local schools each fall through a partnership with DonorsChoose.org, which allows teachers to post requests online for learning supplies or field trip funds that are then crowdfunded by friends, local businesses and the public.

“This is the perfect time of year to give back to our community, and we’re proud that the JUSTIN School Grants program can help make a meaningful difference for our local schools,” said Matt Steel, General Manager of JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery. “This was our third year awarding these grants, and the positive response from both teachers and our employees has been remarkable.”

One awardee was third-grade teacher Trina Nicklas at Winifred Pifer Elementary School, who used funds to purchase science tools including a temperature scanner, magnifying glasses, and audio recorders. “Through your generous donation, I will be able to teach STEM lessons daily,” said Mrs. Nicklas. “I can't wait to get started on the spider science lesson with third graders that teaches inherited traits, and the pill bugs lesson that has first graders researching biomimicry and engineering robots!”
